Teacher develops and delivers curriculum focused on literature, writing, and communication skills to students in grades 9-12. Key duties include lesson planning, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and preparing students for college and career readiness. They instruct on grammar, rhetoric, and diverse literary texts while fostering critical thinking.
Core Instructional Responsibilities Curriculum Development:
- Designing lesson plans that align with state or district standards, including units on literature, composition, and language structure.
-Literature Instruction: Teaching varied genres (novels, poetry, drama) and helping students analyze themes, style, and literary context.
-Writing & Composition: Instructing students in writing processes, including argumentative, expository, and creative writing, as well as research techniques.
-Literacy & Communication: Improving reading comprehension and vocabulary, while developing speaking and listening skills.
-Assessment and Student Support Grading & Feedback: Evaluating student papers, projects, and tests to provide constructive feedback, maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance.
-Differentiation: Adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying skill levels.
-Mentorship: Fostering a positive educational climate and fostering an appreciation of literature and art.
-Professional and Administrative Duties Collaboration: Working with colleagues, staff, and parents to improve student performance.
-Professional Growth: Staying current with educational technologies and teaching techniques.
-Student Welfare: Ensuring student safety and supervising them during school activities.
