Job Summary
This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to Lake Sumter State College's success. The Student Assistant will provide essential support, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure the efficient operation of departmental activities.
This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of 20-25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic and other responsibilities.
Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating values.
Students cannot work during class.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Set up A/V equipment for classes and meetings as needed.
- Removal of old A/V equipment as directed.
- Install, maintain, and replace security cameras as needed.
- Assist with the inventory of equipment.
- Transfer, deliver, and set up portable A/V equipment to meet the needs of the college.
- Ensure a clean and safe workspace.
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as required.
- Assist IT department with needs.
- Maintain a working cell phone for calls on standby projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong Organizational and multitasking skills.
Some knowledge of basic video connections.
Use of hand and some power tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Demonstrated commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications & Education
- Currently enrolled at Lake Sumter State College (min. 6 credit hours)
- Currently, hold and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA
- Minimum age of 18 and not Dual Enrolled
Salary range
- $15 per hour
