Sterile Processing Educator - Sterile Processing Department
Under general supervision of the Materials Management Director, and according to established policies and procedures, the SPD Educator designs, plans, and manages education projects. Follows established policies, procedures and professional guidelines to align education goals with business needs and identified strategies of Tampa General Hospital. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
SPD Duties:
Under general supervision and according to established SPD standards, policies, procedures and professional guidelines. Collaborates and participates with the manager in department operations. Exercises independent judgment and advanced SPD skills.
Education Duties:
Designs learning and delivers training, to facilitate organizational change. Measures and evaluates impact of education and contributes to the improvement of human performance. Duties may include: Coordination of department orientation through preceptor selection and participating in orientee assessments and completion of CBO (Competency-based orientation). Facilitates and produces CAPS, maintains department based CBO (Competency-based orientation) and facilitates preceptor assessment/development. Assists manager in completion of mandatory education initiatives such as new policies, new products, house-wide initiatives and department based requirements. Provides SPD re-education as needed. Assists with promotion of national certifications. Participates in new hire selection process. Serves as subject matter expert as needed to represent the department. Participates in setting department goals and participates in assessment of effectiveness. Maintains staff department and educational records, provides department specific education to meet OSHA and accrediting entity compliance and ensures timelines are met for all mandatory education.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required with Bachelor's degree preferred.
National certification in CRCST and CIS, or CST (Certified Surgical Technician), or CMRP (Certified Materials & Resource Professional) required.
Five (5) years experience in Healthcare Materials Management with two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
