Description

Under the direction of the Program Director/Preschool Lead II- and/or Operations Director, the Preschool Summer Enrichment Adventure Instructor will be responsible for planning and implementing activities, development and delivery of providing a high-quality educational experience. This includes maintaining the physical appearance of the classroom to meet Licensing standards. The instructor will comply with the YMCA's policies, procedures and philosophy of education.

The Preschool Summer Enrichment Instructor will facilitate structured age and developmentally appropriate activities throughout the day, to promote the development of all preschoolers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety and Risk Management
  • Ensures all Tampa Y summer enrichment standards and best practices are implemented and Applies YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations and child abuse prevention.
  • Ensures the health and safety of all
  • Assists in inspecting classrooms and grounds to ensure the safety, orderliness, sanitation and cleanliness of
  • Assists in conducting visual health checks on children for health concerns, including ringworm, head lice or other health conditions and reports immediately to the Summer Camp
Program Quality and Growth
  • Responsible for implementing lesson plans, and daily enrichment activities to promote individual child
  • Prepares all materials and supplies for planned
  • Designs and arranges classrooms for program activities to provide a proper learning
  • Take charge of all specialized activities and assist children during all activities where adult help is
  • Report any suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect to your supervisor and they will assist to report it to the Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Be willing and able to complete other duties as directed by

Leadership

Assist with the following:
  • Ensure proper ratios at all times and direct supervision.
  • Creating and maintaining meaningful and impactful relationships with the families, supervisor and
  • Attends and participates in workshops, in-service training and other meetings to acquire and disseminate
  • Keeps all associates on task through communicating clearly about curriculum and activity
  • Responsible for activity
  • Supports special events.

Requirements

Education/ Experience Required:
  • Must be at least 21 years of
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, Child Development Associate (CDA); Associates or Bachelors in related field; AND/OR equivalent experience, preferred.
  • 45 DCF Training Hours preferred.
  • DCF Staff Credential Preferred
  • Any additional mandatory or assigned training.
  • Must have a minimum of one-year experience working in an early learning/preschool/childcare setting; licensed childcare experience a plus.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with children, parents and peers; demonstrate character, integrity, adaptability and patience in communicating with others.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and develop effective relationships with children to achieve
  • Basic knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for early
  • Basic knowledge of behavior modification theories and
  • Basic knowledge of current educational techniques and
  • Skilled in verbal communication with children and conflict
  • Ability to assist in the planning, organizing and implementing of childhood education

Certifications/Trainings Required:
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • 45 DCF Training Hours preferred.
  • Complete any additional mandatory or assigned training courses.
  • Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.
  • Must attend all mandatory summer enrichment program trainings/meetings.
  • Specific certification required for area of expertise

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
