Summary

This position is to coordinate, schedule and reschedule special radiology procedures for patients and referring physician offices at all of our TGH Imaging locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates, schedules and reschedules patient's special (Nuclear Medicine, PET, Biopsies and Research Studies) radiology procedures as requested by patients and referring physician offices for all of TGH Imaging locations.

• General knowledge on radiology procedures, CPT, ICD codes and health insurances.

• Answer questions regarding appointments and imaging during the calls with the patient and / or physician offices.

• Obtain necessary information (patient demographics and insurance information) and record it in the scheduling system.

• Gives the patient the necessary prep instructions that they need to do before that they come in for their scheduled exam.

• Remind patients to bring in all necessary items when they come for the exam (script, insurance and a form of identification, prior studies when applicable and also payment that may be expected at the time of service)

• Obtain referral and authorization information when available and record it into the patient's file in the RIS system.

• Be efficient with the high volume of outbound calls related to the interface orders and incoming fax order requests.

• Scrub all scripts for, diagnosis, date, signatures and correct exam protocols.

• Communicate back to the referring offices regarding their patient's appointment status.

• Function in a team environment and assist other team members when needed.

• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications / Education / Experience

• High school graduate or GED preferred.

• Proficient in computer software and excellent typing skills.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Problem solving techniques and skills.

• Great phone and phone etiquette abilities. Able to communicate clearly to establish cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians and team members.

• Previous office or call center experience, preferred.

• Knowledge of some medical terminology, preferred
