The Painter must have knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Have the skill, knowledge and understanding of how to use all the standard devices of the trade as well as special devices and materials such as a custom paint colorant tinting machine, sprayers, special epoxy, varnish and paint removers. The incumbent receives assignments from his/her supervisor either orally or through written work order. Incumbent reviews work to be performed and decides the best work method or processes to complete the work. The finished work may be spot checked for adequacy and adherence to accepted trade practices. Duties include:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent will frequently lift, carry and set up materials and equipment that weigh up to twenty (20) pounds. Occasionally the incumbent may handle materials and equipment that weighs forty ( 40) pounds and over. Incumbent will move furniture office equipment and other items using proper equipment and techniques in areas to be painted to avoid damaging equipment and/or building components.

The incumbent receives assignments from his/her supervisor either orally or through written work order. Incumbent reviews work to be performed and decides the best work method or processes to complete the work. The finished work may be spot checked for adequacy and adherence to accepted trade practices. Duties include:
- Painting and refinishing furniture, wood and metal, such as desks, cabinets, chairs, operating room and laundry equipment.
- Glazing and caulking windows on air conditioning equipment, cutting and installing glass. Must be familiar with fixing and replacing broken wooden items during the preparation of painting if there is damage to the wood while prepping the area.
- Installing vinyl wall coverings, hanging paper, etc.; Cutting stencil, painting signs and blending and mixing colors.
- Preparing coating material by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing various additives.
- Uses brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other related methods and techniques to paint interior and exterior walls and buildings, mobile
- equipment, fittings, furnishings, machinery, and other surfaces.
- Applying special finishing techniques such as marbling and graining.
- Must have knowledge of filling in holes in wooden structures and painting and prepping to match areas to include staining or painting said area to blend flawlessly.
- Assists in painting and refinishing furniture, wood and metal, such as desks, cabinets, chairs, operating room and laundry equipment. Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing various additives. Must ensure surfaces are smooth and prepped according to guidelines.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
