What are we looking for?
The Laboratory Technician - Construction is responsible for a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
What you'll do:
Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures
Operates testing equipment and conducts concrete lab testing, (example: Concrete Compressive Strength Testing, Shrinkage Testing, Mortar and Grout Testing) and provides assessment of data through reporting
Operates testing equipment and conducts soils lab testing, (example: Standard & Modified Proctor Testing, Sieve Analysis, Atterberg Limits, Moisture Content and Specific Gravity Testing) and provides assessment of data through reporting
Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results
Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
Communicates effectively with client and project teams
Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your actions at work
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
What it takes to be successful in this role:
Previous laboratory construction materials testing experience is required
Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
External (or task related) certifications based on region and state may be required
Basic math, calculator, and computer skills are required
Must be able to read and understand work plans
Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
Two years of experience performing laboratory construction materials testing is preferred
ACI Concrete Strength Certification is preferred
ACI Aggregate/Soils Base Testing Certification is preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
Ability to climb occasionally
