Role Overview
As a Genetic Counseling Assistant, you will provide essential support to the Genetic Counselor and help ensure smooth, efficient operations. You will manage referrals, coordinate scheduling, assist with patient follow-up, maintain accurate documentation, and help facilitate communication between patients, providers, and laboratory partners.

You will manage referrals, coordinate scheduling, assist with patient follow-up, maintain accurate documentation, and help facilitate communication between patients, providers, and laboratory partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Genetic Counselor with daily workflow and patient coordination
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments and referrals
- Obtain medical records, consents, and required documentation
- Assist patients with follow-up needs and inquiries
- Enter and update patient information and results in tracking systems and EMR
- Upload and maintain documentation such as pedigrees, requisitions, and family letters
- Communicate with clinicians, counselors, patients, and external laboratories
- Coordinate follow-up with labs related to samples, documentation, and testing needs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation across all systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education - Required
- High School Diploma or GED
Education - Preferred
- Bachelor's degree (Science preferred)
- 1 year of related experience may substitute for bachelor's degree
Experience
- Required: 1 year related experience (if no bachelor's)
- Preferred: 1 year healthcare or medical-related experience
- Medical terminology knowledge preferred
