Palihouse Hyde Park Village proudly offers bespoke, residential-inspired hotel suites in Tampa's historic Hyde Park neighborhood, an area known for stately homes, 19th-century architecture, and tree-lined streets. Featuring 36 oversized guest rooms and an intimate lobby lounge and cocktail bar, this lovely urban lodge is designed to welcome and charm the most discerning traveler.
POSITION PROFILE:
The Chief Engineer is the steady hand behind Palihouse Hyde Park Village - the expert who keeps our building, pool, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems running safely and reliably. You'll balance hands-on repairs with proactive prevention, keeping the property safe, code-compliant, and guest-ready every single day.

You'll balance hands-on repairs with proactive prevention, keeping the property safe, code-compliant, and guest-ready every single day.
THE TASK AT HAND:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on fire suppression, sprinkler, fire extinguisher, backflow, pool, and AC systems, meeting all local code requirements.
- Respond rapidly to service calls and emergency situations, documenting and filing reports as required.
- Guide, train, and support maintenance staff on proper repair and equipment-servicing procedures.
- Conduct daily walkthroughs of the property, buildings, and grounds, addressing issues found.
- Partner with the Hotel Manager on energy efficiency, preventative maintenance, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Keep the maintenance department organized and stocked, managing supply par levels.
- Ensure all work orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Communicate clearly with the Hotel Manager and other department heads, and ensure guest concerns are handled promptly.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Required
- 5+ years of general repair and maintenance experience, with previous leadership experience in engineering or property maintenance.
- Strong communication skills, good judgment, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred
- Certifications in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC; experience in a luxury hotel setting a plus.
Physical
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch in tight or restricted spaces.
- Ability to work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures, hazardous materials, and proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical currents.
- Ability to work in conditions that may involve fumes, dust, odors, gases, and poor ventilation.
